Spyderco Ikuchi C242CFP – Satin CPM-S30V Upswept Blade – Carbon Fiber & G-10 Laminate Handle Scales – Stainless Wire Tip-Up Reversible Pocket Clip – Compression Lock Manual w/ Wheel Flipper | Made In Taiwan | Paul Alexander Design

Spyderco – the thumb hole company – has been around since the 70’s, and while they were originally known for their impressive and widely-loved Tri-Angle Sharpmaker, the Colorado-based company now produces a wide range of unique and dependable knives that you’ll love to carry every day. Since their first folding knife, the C01 Worker, in 1981, Spyderco has defined innovation in the knife industry, paving the way for new concepts with many of their models over the years. From using high-grade (and often hard to find on the mainstream market) materials, Spyderco is beloved by many. Many of their models have an odd design at first sight, but their differences are what make them such a powerful and reliable daily carry. Nearly every one of the Spyderco models that has come through Sawyer River has impressed us and met the checklist as an EDC knife. The US-based company produces high-grade pocket knives un the USA, Japan, Taiwan, Italy, and China, surely having a model that will fit both your style as well as your budget. Spyderco is one of our biggest knife brands here at SRKT – when it comes to selection – so if there is something you are looking for that is not on the website, send us an email, as we may have it in person, but not on the website yet.

The Spyderco Ikuchi is awesome. While closed, it’s hard to tell that the Ikuchi even has a blade, as the entire upswept CPM-S30V satin finished blade is hidden between its stainless steel liners and carbon fiber & G-10 laminate handle scales. The only piece of the “blade” that is visible is the wheel flipper that comes from the tang of the blade. One of the smoothest and easiest to use manual flipper mechanisms, the Ikuchi makes for a great fidget, while its blade profile and super strong steel make it a great user knife as well. Designed by Paul Alexander, a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and a big knife-head, and named after a mythical Japanese sea monster, this incredibly thin and lightweight pocket knife is something that you’ll want to get your hands on. While the knife is very easy and fun to open, the beloved Compression Lock mechanism gives it ultra-reliable lock-up and easy one-hand closing. Once you flip the blade out of its handle, the upswept blade is ready to tackle any task in your way, with a full-flat grind and perfected edge geometry to go along with its unique blade profile. The handle scales sit on skeletonized stainless steel liners, and are made out of a gorgeous and lightweight carbon fiber/G-10 laminate. To make the Ikuchi an even better daily carry, the tip-up pocket clip is reversible, and is the widely-loved wire style. Coming in at less than 2.5 oz., the Ikuchi hides itself in your pocket until its time for work. Grab one of these Paul Alexander designs that doubles as a great safe queen as well as an impressive everyday user.
