The On Belay is something you make think of when you hear Medford Knife & Tool. Incredibly large and beefy, this full titanium frame lock model features a 4.125” blade, 0.19” thick. Surely designed and created for hard-use, these guys are just about as bulky as they come. Trey here at SRKT always has an On Belay strapped to his hiking/outdoor bag for emergencies. Surprisingly, the On Belay is easy to operate with one hand, and does have that “fidget” factor so many are looking for in knives nowadays. It’s not common to find a large-sized bulky knife that really is reliable that is easy to flick open over and over again without tiring yourself out. Additionally, the On Belay has a flipper tab which usually works best with a slight flick of the wrist as well. The On Belay definitely is pretty heavy, nearly 9.5” ounces, but the guys over at Medford have figured out the perfect balance when it comes to this model.

This model of the Medford On Belay is nearly completely blacked-out. From the CPM S45VN drop point blade, to the full titanium handle and some of the hardware, almost everything is given a black PVD coating. However, the large pivot and the pocket clip stand out super well, having been given a green Multi-Etch finish. If you’re looking for a hard-use knife with some flair, but not too much, this On Belay is your guy.
