Since 1999, Microtech has been refining and perfecting the Ultratech, and nowadays they have some of the best and most reliable OTF action, being easy to both deploy and retract in the blink of an eye. If you’re the type of person that carries and uses a knife on a daily basis, the Ultratech may be perfect, as it can go from closed up in your pocket to open and ready to use in an instant. With a built in safety mechanism, which stops the blade from firing into/through anything, and internal designs that allow the firing spring to stay in a rested and non-tense position in both open and closed positions, the Ultratech is surprisingly safe and is made to last you a lifetime and more. Be prepared to find yourself carrying the Ultratech more than you intended, as they bridge the gap between collectability and practicality.

Standard Ultratechs come equipped with a 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum handle chassis, extremely lightweight and fairly basic-shaped, while still having slight contouring so it sits comfortably in your hand. Six total sets of jimping on both spine sides of the handle add to the already superb grippability of the knife, and give you more leverage over the knife while completing your cutting tasks. This is furthered by the aggressively textured thumb slide, another spot that your thumb will naturally find itself during use.

With multiple blade shape options, the Ultratech comes in around 8.35” in total length with a roughly 3.3” blade, plus/minus a slight bit depending on blade style. Weighing in at 3.4 oz., you’ll be shocked at the balance this knife boasts in both open and closed positions. Lastly, the Microtech Ultratechs come outfitted with a strong tip-down stainless steel pocket clip that is sure to keep your knife secured to your pocket in nearly any circumstance. This signature series model of the Ultratech is a part of the Hound-line offered by Microtech. Coming with the highly-touted “Warhound” blade, defined by its Wharncliffe-inspired shape coupled with intense spine jimping and blood grooves, this guy is as B.A. as it gets. While the previously mentioned blade jimping helps in making your knife look like something out of a scary movie, it doubles as a strip of intensely improved grip, and gives you tons of leverage while slicing and dicing. The combo of handle shape/size and the heavy jimping on the blade actually make this Signature Series model one of the most “use-able” Ultratechs, at least in our personal opinion. To add to the flair, the black 6061-T6 aluminum handle chassis features the classic Marfione dagger logo on the face. The hardware is a standard bead blast while the blasted tip-down pocket clip comes with the Marfione signature as well as a printed DOB and Serial Number. The blade is finished stonewash.
