When it comes to Pro-Tech and Les George collaborations, many are aware of the SBR, or Short Bladed Rockeye, as these models tend to be more readily available out of the California knife company. However, the full-sized Rockeye is the original product of the great sets of minds coming together, as this guy is a beefy push button automatic that packs a punch. It surely is a reminder of the service that Les George committed to the United States, having been a 10 year Marine veteran.
The Rockeye is designed with simplicity in mind, having a fairly basic shape to the handle, while offering tons of room for your hand and index finger during a full-hand grip, and still giving you a sizeable finger choil for choking up. Once you get one of these guys in your hand, you'll see the details that went in to designing this piece of artwork. The blade of the Rockeye has a great standard shape with a heavy belly and a strong tip. The spine of the blade near the handle has been given heavy jimping, allowing you to really get into whatever it is you're slicing up. All-in-all, these models out of Pro-Tech, the brainchild of Les George, are superb.
This specific model of the Rockeye, part of the Pro-Tech Operator Series, is all blacked-out with the blade being DLC coated and completely sterile. The blade itself is made of CPM S35VN steel and has a plain edge. The handle is black and has patches of texturing on the face. The pocket clip and hardware are all coated black as well. The definitive characteristic of this knife, however, is the glow-in-the-dark Tritium inlay on the push button.
