Opinel No. 08 Walnut – Satin Sandvik 12C27 Stainless Steel Trailing Point Blade – Walnut Wood Handle – Nail Nick Manual Folder w/ Virobloc Safety Ring Lock

Since 1890, Opinel has offered high-quality, simple, stainless steel locking pocket knives that have been a staple of the classic outdoorsman pack for well over a century. Known as a pioneer in the knife manufacturing industry, Joseph Opinel began making knives when he was 18 in France, and to this day his designs have a lasting effect in the knife world. The same design has lasted for 100+ years, as the Opinel is just about as solid as they come. Favored by outdoorsmen for their sharpen-ability, as the Opinel classics come with high-carbon content blades, as well as their resistance to corrosion, dependability and reliability are what defines an Opinel knife. The larger-sized classic Opinels come with the patented Virobloc safety ring folder, which was originally invented in 1955 and refined to perfection until they were finally made available on these models in the early 2000’s. The Virobloc system allows for a simple turn of a non-stationary, rotating ferrule, to lock the blade in an open position. Sharp, safe, and rugged, Opinel knives have been around and widely-used for over a century for a reason. Simply put: you cannot go wrong with owning and using an Opinel knife.

The stainless steel models by Opinel feature Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel. With a 0.40%+ carbon content and added chromium, these blades are highly anti-corrosive, are incredibly sharp to begin with, and are extremely easy to resharpen back to its factory edge. These upgraded Opinel knives bridge the gap between functionality and affordability. The stainless steel Opinels come in a number of different types of wood, giving you multiple options for both color and size.

When caring for your stainless steel Opinel, was only by hand and avoid immersing your knife in water, as this could warp the true wooden handle. Be sure to dry your blade before closing it up and storing it as this could also affect the wooden handle.

This model SS Opinel is a No. 08 with a gorgeous Walnut Wooded handle, with an awesome darker finish than its main-line brothers. Still made in the French Alps, but coming with an improved stainless steel, this knife will get the job done while looking great the whole time. This model also comes with the Virobloc safety ring, allowing for easy locking while the blade is either open or closed.
